liverpoolLoad Liverpool remains on the lookout for a new manager after Richard Hughes was confirmed as sporting director last week. His first task is to identify Jürgen Klopp’s successor but a reported target may no longer be available. The Reds continue to be linked with defensive additions for the summer too and could move for a Brazil international. Here’s your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann could extend his tenure beyond the European Championships. Nagelsmann’s current deal is set to expire after this summer’s tournament and he has emerged as an option for Liverpool.
According to The Telegraph, the former Bayern Munich boss is under consideration by the Reds, if Xabi Alonso cannot be persuaded to return to Anfied. But the German FA could well offer Nagelsmann a new deal this summer.
President Bernd Neuendorf was asked about extending the 36-year-old’s contract after the win over France and told ZDF: “It would be absolutely desirable from our side. We are a good team, we get on well and we are in intensive dialogue.”
Nagelsmann did not rule out staying on either, adding: “It depends a bit on the offer. I am of course happy when they are satisfied with the coaching staff. It is not impossible, but it is not a given either. The focus is on the Euros.”
Liverpool could look to bolster its defensive options with a move for Juventus’ Gleison Bremer this summer. The Brazilian has been a regular this season but Juve could look to cash in at the end of the campaign.
