Liverpool’s wonderkid factory shows no signs of slowing down its production process, with another teenager having been called up by Jurgen Klopp to first-team training over the past few days.
One of Klopp’s many parting gifts this summer will be the Liverpool youngsters he has helped bed into the first team this season, with the likes of Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns among those that have shone with the senior squad.
The incredible talent coming through the Liverpool academy, now affectionately referred to by supporters as ‘La AXA’, has been a blessing for the Reds this year, with the club’s prospects having played a huge part in this season’s success.
With the international break restricting his pool of first-team players, the Liverpool boss took another opportunity to nurture some of the club’s academy talent, with 17-year-old Kieran Morrison earning a call-up to senior training on Wednesday.
The starlet was also involved in Thursday’s training session according to journalist Jack Lusby, despite all of the club’s first-team internationals having returned to Merseyside.
Morrison has clearly made an impression on the academy coaches and will likely be eyeing a similar pathway into the first team as several of his young teammates.
WHO IS KIERAN MORRISON?
The teenager has been in eye-catching form for Liverpool’s U18 side this season, with the midfielder having scored nine goals and provided three assists in 15 appearances in the U18 Premier League.
Morrison has also made three outings for the Northern Ireland U19s and was actually signed from Manchester United’s U14 side.
The attacking midfielder is pulling up trees on Merseyside though, with Liverpool perhaps getting one over on their close rivals once again by recruiting Morrison at such a young age.
It will be interesting to see whether Morrison is handed any minutes between now and the end of the season, although that seems extremely unlikely given the significance of Liverpool’s remaining games, but he could be a potential benchwarmer between now and the summer.
