The wait goes on for Alisson Becker, with the latest reports suggesting he could still be a few weeks away from a return to training with Liverpool. There is though an unexpected boost for Joël Matip.
Alisson has been out since missing the game against Burnley in February through illness. The Brazilian would pick up a hamstring injury in training just a few days later, which has seen him missing for almost two months now.
Alisson remains ‘several weeks’ away from full training. Jürgen Klopp though has stated that he expects the goalkeeper to play again this season, with a return by the end of next month looking the most likely.
Meanwhile, Matip has made a surprise return at the AXA Training Centre. The defender was expected to be out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury against Fulham in December.
The 32-year-old though has been back out running on the grass. At this stage though, there is no timeline for a possible return, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it could still be the case that he has already played his final game for Liverpool.
Elsewhere, it’s as you were on the injury front. The Reds are awaiting results on Andy Robertson’s scan after he injured his ankle while playing for Scotland, with Klopp expected to give an update at his pre-match press conference tomorrow.
