Liverpool is back in action in the Premier League this weekend with a clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on the horizon. The Reds are continuing the search for a new manager too, and there is backing for an alternative to Xabi Alonso. Liverpool is also being tipped to be busy in the transfer market and could move for a top young talent in the summer. Here’s your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
Liverpool has a ‘keen interest’ in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist Artur Petrosyan. The Reds have reportedly sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old across recent months, and are ‘attentively’ monitoring the player ahead of the summer window.
Sudakov was heavily linked with a move in the January transfer window but Shakhtar side refused to sell. Offers in the region of $43million (£34m/€39.7m) reportedly arrived for the player with both Arsenal and Juventus said to be interested.
Despite the interest, Shakhtar kept hold of Sudakov but is likely to face more interest this summer. His release clause is said to rise to around $161m (£128m/€150m) in the coming months.
Liverpool would likely not part ways with this figure and the belief is that there is room to negotiate the asking price down with Shakhtar. After extending his contract at his current club until 2028 earlier in the year, Sudakov suggested there was an agreement in place for him to leave this summer.
