Liverpool faces a huge week in its quest to end the season with more silverware. The Reds have it all to do out in Italy in the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Atalanta but have delivered some incredible comebacks down the years. That is followed up with a trip to Fulham, where a win is needed to keep the title hopes alive. Off the pitch, the search for a new manager continues amid speculation over a contract offer to Rúben Amorim. Here’s your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.
Liverpool’s search for Jürgen Klopp’s successor is ongoing with Sporting CP boss Rúben Amorim the favorite for the post. Amorim reacted angrily to claims he had a ‘verbal agreement’ in place with Liverpool and refused to discuss his future further.
His focus remains on leading Sporting to the Portuguese Primeira Liga title, with his side also eyeing domestic cup success. However, fresh reports claim Amorim’s agent has received a contract offer from Liverpool.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, talks remain ongoing between the Reds and Amorim’s representatives, with Liverpool looking to reach an agreement in the near future. It is claimed a three-year deal has been tabled for the Portuguese boss.
The claims come after Sport Italia reported that Liverpool officials were in Portugal over the weekend to make further checks on Amorim, as his side thrashed Gil Vicente 4-0 to stay top of the table.
The Reds could be about to turn to Germany to boost its defensive options this summer amid reports that discussions have been held over a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho.
