March Playbook For the Saints Includes New League Year, Pro Days and Free Agency

As we enter a new month, business picks up for the New Orleans Saints.

 

Things are going to wrap up at the NFL Scouting Combine, for starters. New Orleans is still working on finishing out their coaching staff, and then the focus becomes finishing up their player evaluations to figure out a plan of attack for the players.

Here’s what a busy month of March looks like for the Saints, with Pro Days, free agency and the new league year all being the biggest highlights.

March 1-2: NFL Scouting Combine

Saturday sees the quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers all working out and then the offensive linemen on Sunday.

Early March: Getting Under the Salary Cap

Expect a flood of restructures to start rolling in for the Saints as they work to get under the cap.

March 11: Kentucky and Tennessee Pro Day

March 28: UFL Season Begins

UFL action helps fill some of the void left behind from no NFL, and this is a great opportunity for players to get on teams before training camp. Their season runs through early June, and there’s plenty of former Saints who are currently competing here.

March 30-Apr. 2: NFL Annual League Meeting (The Breakers, Palm Beach, Florida)

Whether it be rule changes or league matters to discuss, all of the owners, coaches and a lot of front office staff get together for an annual league meeting. It’ll be a chance to talk publicly to Kellen Moore following some of the free agency moves and final coaching staff decisions.
