Miami Heat forward Haywood Highsmith has been involved in a serious car accident that left a Good Samaritan injured, according to reports.
In Miami-Dade County, a 27-year-old basketball player from the Miami Heat, driving a black 2021 Audi A5, collided with a 1999 Toyota 4Runner and struck a Good Samaritan.
The crash resulted in severe injuries to Alekxei Pino, including a partial amputation of his right leg, a compound fracture to his left leg, and a possible broken left arm, as stated by the police.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Southwest 136 Street and 138th Avenue, where Pino had stopped to assist the disabled Toyota’s driver. Haywood Highsmith, Heat’s number 24, born in Baltimore and drafted in 2018, was cited by police for careless driving.
Fortunately, Highsmith did not sustain any injuries in the accident. The Toyota was stationary in the right westbound lane with its lights off when Highsmith, traveling westbound, was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Highsmith’s vehicle collided with a disabled vehicle that had pulled over to the side of the road, where the Good Samaritan was assisting the driver.
The Good Samaritan suffered injuries from the impact and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the Good Samaritan is currently unknown.
The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities, and no further details have been released at this time.
