Latest Liverpool news as wonderkid Jayden Danns nets his first goals for the Reds in a memorable evening
Liverpool prodigy Jayden Danns has labelled his first senior goals as a “dream come true” after he netted twice in the Reds’ FA Cup fifth round win over Southampton – and admits sleeping on Wednesday night is unlikely.
The striker came off the bench in the 62nd minute with Liverpool 1-0 up against the Championship thanks to Lewis Koumas’ opener in the first-half. Danns scored twice in front of the Kop end to confirm the quarter-final clash with Manchester United.
His first came after good movement behind the defender and a calm finish past Joe Lumley. His tally was doubled when he showed great instinct to follow in Conor Bradley’s shot to tap into the empty net.
He wrote this after the match…
“Two goals, MOM [Man of the Match], great post match interview & all that at just 18! @jayden_danns76 [football emoji, clapping emoji]” he wrote on Twitter.
Before Wednesday, Danns had only played five times for Liverpool’s Under-21 side, and wasn’t even yet a regular in Premier League 2.
