Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool remain in the hunt for the Premier League title after an enthralling draw with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League have diminished marginally following the draw against Manchester City, according to the latest Opta findings.
Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed the better of the first half and were ahead at the interval as Kevin De Bruyne’s quick corner was stabbed home by John Stones from close range. Jurgen Klopp rallied his troops at the break and were level two minutes into the second half as Ederson hacked down Darwin Nunez in the box with Alexis Mac Allister expertly finishing from the spot.
Klopp’s men felt they should have had another penalty deep into stoppage time when Jeremy Doku appeared to foul Mac Allister, but VAR ruled that the City winger had won the ball. The result left both teams off the top spot behind Arsenal but it is the Gunners who are the least likely to win the Premier League according to Opta.
The Gunners are the third most likely team with an 18.8 per cent chance of lifting the title. This is up from a measly 13 per cent prior to the weekend.
Surprisingly, Liverpool’s chances of winning the league have dropped by 0.3 per cent to 35.3 per cent following the draw as the Reds sit second in the table behind Arsenal only on goal difference. City remain the overwhelming favourites to be crowned champions but their chances have been dealt a knock.
They are now 5.5 per cent less likely to win the Premier League after slumping to third, a point behind their rivals. However, they still have a 45.9 per cent chance of taking home the title.
