Revealed: ‘New date’ for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park – after last Saturday’s clash fell victim to Storm Darragh

The highly anticipated Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, which was postponed due to Storm Darragh, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2025. This match will be the final Merseyside derby to take place at Goodison Park before Everton moves to its new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

 

The original fixture was called off due to safety concerns, with Storm Darragh bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the area. The postponement was announced after a meeting between officials from Everton, Liverpool, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council ¹.

Liverpool’s revised fixture schedule is quite packed, with the team facing a potential five matches in just 15 days, including the FA Cup fourth-round weekend and a Premier League fixture against Wolves. However, the Reds are likely to avoid the Champions League knock-out play-offs, given their strong performance in the group phase ² ³.
