The son of a former Premier League star could be Liverpool’s next teenage sensation after impressing in the Reds’ academy.
The 17-year-old striker has made waves with Liverpool’s Under-14 team scoring a jaw-dropping 90 goals in a single season.
And according to Honduran outlet Diario Diez, the Reds are now eager to tie the teenager down to a long term contract at Anfield.
The man in question is Keyrol Figueroa, the son of Maynor Figueroa, who played 214 Premier League games with Wigan and Hull between 2008 and 2015.
Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras’ capital, Figueroa Jr looks set to follow his father’s footsteps into the Premier League.
As per the reports, Liverpool have been working on a new deal for the teenager for ‘several weeks’ and to ‘ensure a path to the first team.’
Figueroa joined Liverpool’s academy as an Under-14 player and made his debut for the Under-18 team in the 2021-22 season, while still playing for the Under-16 side.
Blessed with great pace, Figueroa is capable of scoring spectacular goals, and he featured for the U18s as a first-year scholar in 2022-23.
The 17-year-old represents the USA at international level and scored seven goals in seven appearances at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship in Mexico last season, with the USA losing 3-1 to the hosts in the final.
It has been a superb season for Liverpool’s youngsters, with several making their mark in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Reds had eight academy graduates in the squad for their 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Twenty-year-old Conor Bradley started the final, while Jayden Danns and Jarell Quansah – 18 and 21 respectively – came off the bench along with Bobby Clark, James McConnell – both 19.
The latter trio and Bradley all started in the 3-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round along with 18-year-old Lewis Koumas, who scored on his professional debut.
Danns, meanwhile, came off the bench to score twice as the Reds booked a quarter-final tie against Manchester United and 16-year-old Trey Nyoni also made his debut.
