Brentford manager Thomas Frank insists he is delighted to be working for Liverpool but is also very happy with life in the Biz. The 50-year-old has been mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp if the German leaves at the end of the season, although he is not the main candidate.
The Dane has been in charge of Brentford since 2018 and has done an admirable job on a shoestring budget to take them out of the Championship and into a Premier League powerhouse. He has been called up to big things in the past and was happy to answer questions about a move to Anfield.
He admits the talk is a compliment and has no problem with it, adding that he is in no rush to leave Brentford. “There are a lot of rumours. I think we have a kind of ego and that ego likes sugar, but at the end of the day I’m with Brentford. “I’m very happy here,” Frank told Sky Sports.
“Do I have ambition?” Yes. Will I stay in Brentford forever? It could be, but it’s not likely. So who knows what the future holds? “All I know is that I’m here in Brentford and I’m very happy.” Frank’s job at Brentford will not get any easier with Ivan Toni likely to leave this summer, with the manager admitting his striker is unlikely to have much time left at Wasps.
“It’s clear that Ivan Toni will be sold this summer,” Frank said, via Tipsbladet.” Selling a top player can be ‘expensive’ but I know he only has one year left on his contract with us this summer. “We know how precious it is.
“I don’t think there are many better strikers in the world right now.”Toney has scored three goals in four Premier League games since returning from a gambling ban last month.
