Darwin Nunez has been an enigma at Liverpool. You either love him or hate him. Although let’s be honest, most Liverpool supporters absolutely love him. Rightfully, so. He’s just so much fun to watch. From the bad and the good.
It’s taken him a little while to get going after arriving from Benfica. But this season in particular he has been in inspired form. And in all fairness, Nunez has always taken his time to really get going at his previous clubs as well.
Back in his Benfica days, it took him about a season to acclimatise to the football in Portugal. At which point he started to absolutely dominate the league. Yet, even he couldn’t do what Liverpool’s latest £105m target has done.
Joao Neves latest accolade
As reported previously Liverpool scouts have been impressed by Joao Neves, who is valued at around £105m by Benfica.
Only 19-years-old he has already broken into the first team set-up and hasn’t just broken in but has thrived as well. It’s no surprise that he is on the club’s radar. Especially after the latest recognition of his talent.
As per A Bola, Neves was voted Midfielder of the Month for the third time in a row this season, receiving the award for October, November and December. This is something even as dominant as Nunez couldn’t do in his own position in the Portuguese League two years ago.
Neves is clearly a top-class talent. His £105m value is extremely steep. It is moot whether Liverpool could possibly pull off a deal. Especially when the midfield isn’t that much of a priority for Jurgen Klopp at the moment.
