Diogo Jota disagrees with Jamie Carragher after bold Liverpool claim involving Luis Suárez

Diogo Jota has hit back at comments made by Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher after recently praising his goalscoring ability. Despite playing in several front-line positions, Jota is having a decent season in front of goal, scoring 13 goals in all competitions. The only person to score more goals for Portugal is Mohamed Salah. Portugal are currently averaging one goal every two matches.

After the recent win at Bournemouth, in which Jota scored twice, Carragher said he had never finished better than Jota at Anfield. Carragher told Sky Sports: “I think about some of the strikers I’ve played with. Michael Owen, Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Robbie Fowler. I think he (Jota) is the best finisher.

“Robbie (Fowler) may be ahead of him in terms of finishing hard and low from corners, but [his two goals against Bournemouth] are typical Jojo. He gets really cool when he gets the chance. Has scored or assisted every 84 minutes this season. There are only two or three players higher than him in the Premier League.“He sums up Liverpool’s recruitment over the last five or six years.

He was a player who was part of the Wolves squad and had a lot of people scratching their heads when they signed him. If all goes well, he might not be able to play anymore. “But I think he is a better player than Suarez, Torres and even Salah. Only Robbie Fowler can compete with him at the top of the Premier League.”Jota spoke about the idea in an interview with Sky Sports: “I think it’s a bit excessive. I believe in myself, but the name associated with me is better than me. This is.”
