Liverpool have followed up their disappointing defeat to Arsenal at the start of the month with back-to-back wins against Burnley and Brentford as they continue their push for the Premier League title.
An emphatic 4-1 victory against the Bees last Saturday made sure that Liverpool kept their spot at the top of the Premier League table, a crucial victory given Arsenal hammered Burnley 5-0 later in the day.
However, reigning champions Manchester City did stumble in their bid for a fourth successive Premier League crown, only managing a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea in Saturday’s late kick-off.
The Reds are currently two points ahead of the Gunners and five ahead of Man City, although the latter still have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Here is how the Reds’ current schedule compares to their title rivals Man City and Arsenal.
LIVERPOOL’S NEXT FIVE PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Liverpool get straight back to action on Wednesday night when they welcome Luton Town to Anfield in the Premier League.
The Reds must be wary of the spirited Hatters, who held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road last November in the two sides’ first ever Premier League meeting.
Klopp’s injury ravaged squad then have the small matter of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this Sunday, followed by a midweek FA Cup fifth round clash at Anfield against Southampton the following Wednesday.
Liverpool’s first match in March comes back in the Premier League as they travel to Nottingham Forest – a ground they lost 1-0 at last season thanks to former Red Taiwo Awoniyi.
Then come three huge clashes in the rest of March, starting with a potentially season-defining home match against Man City. The Reds know how significant a victory would be in that fixture, especially given Pep Guardiola’s side still have to meet Arsenal later in the month.
What follows is an always tricky trip to Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby. Not only are Everton desperate to dent Liverpool’s title aspirations, they’re also desperate for points to help avoid relegation.
Roberto De Zerbi will then be allowed an audition for the Liverpool job at the end of the month when his Brighton side travel to Anfield. The Seagulls drew 2-2 with the Reds earlier this season and always prove a handful under the Italian coach.
Liverpool will also play both legs of their last 16 tie in the Europa League during March, although their opponents are not yet known.
Liverpool vs Luton – Wednesday, 21 February
Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool – Saturday, 2 March
Liverpool vs Man City – Sunday, 10 March
Everton vs Liverpool – Sunday, 17 March
Liverpool vs Brighton – Sunday, 31 March
MAN CITY’S NEXT FIVE PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Man City face another clash with Brentford on Tuesday evening having beaten the Bees 3-1 at the beginning of February and they will have a chance to close the gap on Liverpool when they travel to Bournemouth this Saturday.
A trip to Luton in the FA Cup will come afterwards, followed by a big derby clash with Manchester United at the beginning of March – one game that Liverpool fans will be hopeful of the Red Devils winning.
The Cityzens then play the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Copenhagen, followed by their trip to Anfield on 10 March. Liverpool will be hopeful that an extra midweek game will leave Pep Guardiola’s side a little fatigued for their trip to Merseyside.
Man City then travel to Brighton in what could be a problematic clash, with Liverpool fans knowing that one of their title rivals will drop points at the end of March when Arsenal travel to the Etihad Stadium.
Man City vs Brentford – Tuesday, 20 February
Bournemouth vs Man City – Saturday, 24 February
Man City vs Man Utd – Sunday, 3 March
Liverpool vs Man City – Sunday, 10 March
Brighton vs Man City – Sunday, 17 March
ARSENAL’S NEXT FIVE PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Arsenal have put themselves firmly back in the title picture with five consecutive victories and they return to Premier League action this Saturday.
The Gunners face a tricky visit from Newcastle United, although the Magpies have been in sketchy form, followed by a routine trip to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Arsenal then host Brentford in their second March fixture before facing another west London side in rivals Chelsea. The Blues have been stronger against the division’s big clubs this season and have already earned a 2-2 draw with the Gunners.
Mikel Arteta’s side then face Man City in a blockbuster fixture at the end of March and they will be looking to do the double over Guardiola’s men as they bid for the Premier League crown.
Arsenal vs Newcastle – Saturday, 24 February
Sheffield United vs Arsenal – Monday, 4 March
Arsenal vs Brentford – Saturday, 9 March
Arsenal vs Chelsea – Saturday, 16 March
Man City vs Arsenal – Sunday, 31 March
