Xabi Alonso says there’s no further update to bring on his future amid interest from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
The 42-year-old is currently having a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen, who are unbeaten in all competitions.
Alonso remains tight-lipped over his Bayer Leverkusen
Alonso’s side are eight points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga, whom they beat 3-0 on February 10.
They are also through to the semi-finals of the German DFB-Pokal after getting past Stuttgart, and they will participate in the last 16 of the Europa League.
The Basque-born tactician refused to be drawn on speculation surrounding his future with Die Werkself.
“Bayern, Liverpool? I have nothing new to say,” said Alonso ahead of his side’s clash with Mainz in the Bundesliga on Friday night.
“Right now, I’m Bayer Leverkusen coach, and that’s certain. Regarding the future, I have nothing new to say.
“Have I received a call from Bayern? That’s only hypothetical. Again, I have nothing new to say.”
Alonso has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, replacing the outgoing Jurgen Klopp.
The 56-year-old shocked Liverpool fans following his bombshell interview where he announced he will step down in the summer after nine years on Merseyside.
