Marco Silva insists Fulham are not desperate to take revenge on Liverpool and kill their title hopes.
Jurgen Klopp ’s men destroyed the Londoners’ Wembley dreams after beating them in the Carabao Cup last four earlier in the year. But Silva is adamant retribution for that heartache is the last thing on his players’ minds this afternoon.
Yes, they can virtually end the Merseysiders’ faltering title hopes with victory or even a draw at Craven Cottage. However, Silva claims the race to be crowned English champions is utterly irrelevant to his side, who also face Manchester City during the run-in.
Ahead of Liverpool’s visit, the Fulham supremo said: “No, it’s not about revenge… because it’s not our fight. Okay, Liverpool killed our Carabao Cup dreams but we were both fighting for that. But I’m not fighting for the same (league) position as Liverpool.
“I am fighting for three points for Fulham. The rest of the details are not for us. That’s for Liverpool and City.”
Despite those sentiments, both Liverpool and City should expect Fulham to be fired up and performing close to their peak.
