The Los Angeles Chargers could make one, or two, team-altering trades this offseason. After the Luka Dončić trade shook the NBA over the weekend, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett followed suit on Monday with a request that made waves in the NFL. In an exclusive statement, Garrett requested to be traded from the Browns.
“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl,” Garrett wrote in his statement. “My desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.” Might Garrett be a target for the Chargers this offseason?
Garrett, despite his lack of team success, has been individually dominant. Since 2020, Garrett leads the NFL in quarterback pressures and turnovers caused by pressures. Additionally, since 2020, he ranks second in sacks with 72 and is the Browns all-time leader in sacks with 102.5. In each of the last seven seasons, Garrett has had 10 plus sacks in each of them and is the only player to record double-digit sacks in seven consecutive seasons. Also, Garrett is the first player to compile 14 plus sacks in 4 straight seasons.
