HUNTING VALLEY, Ohio (WOIO) – 19 News has learned Cleveland Browns player Jameis Winston’s car was stolen earlier this month.
The vehicle is a 2023 Cadillac Escalade, according to Hunting Valley police, who are assisting with the investigation.
The car was reportedly stolen on Jan. 21.
Officers are still searching for the SUV, and anyone with information is asked to contact Hunting Valley police.
Hunting Valley police continued to assist officers with Detroit’s stolen car unit after Browns quarterback Jameis Winston’s car was stolen from that Michigan city last week.
Hunting Valley Police Chief Mike Cannon said investigators in the Motor City contacted his department Jan. 25 after Winston’s 2023 Cadillac Escalade was stolen from a Detroit residence where it had been dropped off recently.
A local towing company, Interstate Auto, had picked up the Escalade from Winston’s home in Hunting Valley, with plans to have the SUV eventually taken to California.
The Interstate driver was given the Detroit address from which the transport to California was supposed to continue, Cannon said.
As requested by Detroit police, Hunting Valley entered Winston’s SUV into the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a stolen vehicle, with the date the theft occurred listed as Jan. 21.
Cannon said Monday (Jan. 27) that his department continued to work with the Detroit stolen car unit and remained “in the infancy” of the investigation.
The car theft happened in Detroit, but the transport originated from here,” Cannon said.
“So we took the report and entered it into LEADS and NCIC as a stolen vehicle as we continue to assist the Detroit police.”
