Outside of Tom Brady and what seems to be a young star in Drake Maye, the New England Patriots have had some questions at the quarterback position in recent years.
They were fortunate to have Brady for 20 years, but there have been others who didn’t do the job.
Some also weren’t given much of a chance to do the job, including Jimmy Garoppolo.
Garoppolo played with the Patriots for just three seasons before joining the San Francisco 49ers. He’s been around the league since as a backup, and is looking for a new home for the 2025-26 campaign
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports predicted his new team will be the Minnesota Vikings to help replace Sam Darnold.
“At 33, Garoppolo is older and less explosive than Sam Darnold, the Vikings’ 2024 starter. He’s also likely to come much cheaper, and he played on some big stages under general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with the San Francisco 49ers. He could be another placeholder until young J.J. McCarthy is ready,” Benjamin wrote
Garoppolo likely wouldn’t be a starter with the Vikings. They have a few decisions to make regarding Darnold and youngster J.J. McCarthy, who should be more than ready by the start of next season.
However, if McCarthy doesn’t play well, Minnesota could turn to the former New England quarterback.
