New England’s famed 28-3 comeback against the Atlanta Falcons is still paying off for one member of the 2016 Patriots.
Martellus Bennett sold his Super Bowl LI ring for $88,125 over the weekend, according to Hunt Auctions. The tight end was a significant contributor in that victory, catching five passes for 62 yards and playing 87% of the offensive snaps.
Bennett spent the 2016 season with New England and returned for a brief cameo in 2017 after being waived by the Packers. In 18 games with the Patriots, he had 61 receptions for 754 yards and seven touchdowns.
Bennett posted an Instagram reel of clips from Super Bowl LI after the ring’s sale, writing:
“Here’s a few highlights from the Super Bowl I won with the homies. Ended the night with 5 catches for 62 yards in the greatest Super Bowl comeback of all time in my hometown, Houston with a broken ankle and torn shoulder. From the SWAT and back with love.”
