It wouldn’t be a Pittsburgh Steelers offseason without trade rumors and speculation—especially when it pertains to a superstar wide receiver.
Throughout 2024, 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk, Jets WR Davante Adams, and Rams WR Cooper Kupp were all tied to the Pittsburgh Steelers at different times. However, the Steel City had little to show for it.
While Kupp has once again been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers to kick off the 2025 offseason, CBS Sports has predicted that 49ers star WR Deebo Samuel may be another name tied to the Black and Gold.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports argued that the Steelers could offer up the 122nd pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to acquire Samuel. Sullivan supported this mock trade through ESPN’s estimated Day 3 pick compensation that the 49ers may seek in return for Samuel but also noted that the deal could entirely depend on Samuel’s willingness to call Pittsburgh his new home.
If the Pittsburgh Steelers can acquire a wide receiver as talented as Samuel for as little as a fourth-round draft pick, GM Omar Khan should call the 49ers’ front office immediately to get a deal done ASAP.
