Former Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson sets 2 visits that greatly impact the NFL

The NFL Free Agency has been wild the last few days, and mostly former Wisconsin Badgers have stayed out of the news. Today, however, former Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson, who is one of the better available quarterbacks in free agency, has started to get calls and interest. He’s going to have a few suitors looking for him. Even though he’s no longer in his prime, he’s still a veteran quarterback with a Super Bowl ring.

Russell Wilson is planning to visit the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants

According to Adam Schefter and other NFL insiders, Wilson is going on two visits this week as he heads to Cleveland to meet with the Browns leadership. That first visit will be on Thursday, March 13th, and then on Friday, March 14th, he’s headed to New York to talk with the Giants.

Both teams are desperate for a good signal-caller and are looking for someone to come in and help the team get on the right side of winning. The Browns went 3-14 last season with Jameis Winston as their primary starting quarterback (the Browns also saw Deshaun Watson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and even Bailey Zappe). The Giants also went 3-14 and also featured four different quarterbacks throughout the year. The Giants had Daniel Jones start the most games for them at 10, but they also had Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle.

Wilson is entering into his 14th year in the league having played for the Seattle Seahawks, the Denver Broncos, and recently the Pittsburgh Steelers. He still has one of the best completion percentages in the NFL with a career line of 64.7%. The only year his QBR rating was lower than 50 was his first year in Denver where he posted his lowest rated year at 38.7. Every other year in the NFL he’s been north of 50 and on his career he’s over 60.
