Free agency continues to create bonds and end tenures around the NFL. The New Orleans Saints have made some notable additions so far, but they’ve felt some losses to their roster as well.
Paulson Adebo thanks New Orleans
Adebo recently agreed to a free-agent contract with the New York Giants. It’s a three-year deal worth $18M per season for the now experienced cornerback
The defensive back made sure to honor his time in New Orleans, thanking the Saints organization and their fans on social media on Wednesday morning.
Extremely Thankful for the last 4 years in New Orleans. From coaches, to teamates, to the incredible fans, It has been real! I am forever grateful for the city of New Orleans and the amazing relationships that were formed! — Adebo via Instagram
Adebo is clearly thankful that he got drafted by the Saints and given a lot of opportunities on the field to kick off his NFL career. Now, he got rewarded with a nice, expensive new deal in New York.
The Anthony Davis effect
Ross Jackson of LousianaSports.net has always kept a close tally on the appreciative nature of players that exit New Orleans since Anthony Davis’ departure from the Pelicans.
The Pels star never thanked New Orleans after he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer.
Davis was drafted by New Orleans and spent over half a decade with the team. There was never any sort of “thank you” post that you see from most athletes once they leave the team that selected them as a rookie, regardless if by free agency or trade.
Regardless, Adebo’s departure leaves another meaningful roster hole for the Saints’ defense. Their secondary will need to add some more talent via veterans and the 2025 NFL Draft.
