1. Peter Gulacsi – 2008 to 2013
The Hungarian keeper never played a single minute for Liverpool, but he was contracted to the club for five years.
Gulacsi moved to Liverpool as a youngster and initially joined the academy on loan from MTK Budapest. After winning multiple trophies at the reserve level with the club, Liverpool made his transfer from Hungary permanent.
For the 2008-09 season, Gulacsi spent the season on loan at Hereford United, which was in League Two then. Gulacsi made 18 appearances that season before returning to Liverpool.
In the following seasons, Gulacsi had multiple emergency loans to Tranmere United in League One, which has a close relationship with Liverpool FC. During this time, Peter also trained with the Reds’ first team and made several bench appearances.
For the 2011-12 season, Gulacsi was loaned out to Championship side Hull City. After initially beginning the season as the backup behind Vito Mannone, Gulacsi earned the starting position until a knee injury saw him return to the bench once he had recovered.
Later that season, Liverpool had to recall Peter Gulacsi from the loan as Pepe Reina and Doni were out for the club’s FA Cup match against Everton on April 14th, 2012, at Wembley.
Gulacsi was on the bench in the Reds’ 2-1 Merseyside Derby win. Gulacsi would move to RB Salzburg that summer on a free transfer, winning multiple Austrian Bundesliga titles before his move to RB Leipzig, where he has won the DFB-Pokal twice.
