For Shedeur Sanders to become the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, he still has a long road ahead-especially now after losing time due to an oblique injury. Unless there’s a surprise, the starter appears to be Joe Flacco, who is entering his 18th NFL season.
Shedeur Sanders was once projected as a first-round pick, but ultimately fell all the way to the fifth round. Still, he made a strong statement with an impressive showing against the Panthers.
Will Shedeur Play Against the Eagles?
At the start of the week, expectations and excitement were sky-high to see Shedeur Sanders face the Philadelphia Eagles. However, on Wednesday it was revealed that he had suffered a strain and was practically ruled out of the game. On Thursday, he didn’t even practice.
“We’re going to give him a rest for a while. We’ll treat it day to day,” said Kevin Stefanski to the media.
Shedeur Sanders has not yet been officially ruled out, but it is very unlikely that he will play. In fact, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot indicated that the rookie will be sidelined for a while. This is valuable time lost for Deion Sanders’ son, and the competition could slip out of his hands.
Now, the one who seems likely to lead the offense is Dillon Gabriel, the team’s other rookie quarterback, who will need a convincing performance-especially since Kevin Stefanski appears determined to give him opportunities rather than Shedeur Sanders.
