A Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea and an FA Cup fourth-round draw with Norwich City on Sunday prevented Liverpool from achieving much in the domestic cup competitions. Arsenal have a better chance of winning because they are out of the FA Cup. The interesting thing about Liverpool is that despite a long spell of injuries and absences, they have quietly gone about their business, winning games and continuing to improve in all aspects. In the semi-final second leg against Fulham, nine players were sent off, but the likes of Jarrell Quansah and Conor Bradley featured.
Klopp should have Dominic Szoboszlai and Trent Alexander-Arnold back in training this week, while Andy Robertson will get some rest on the bench at Craven Cottage this weekend. All three players are first XI stars. Mohamed Salah, Wataru Endo, Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas and Stefan Bajcetic are still missing, but Liverpool have yet to prove themselves. They will be back before the end of the season, but Joel Matip may not be. If Liverpool get a few more bodies, the Reds will increase their chances again. Klopp’s side are already top of the Premier League and will only get better when Robertson and co are available again.
Not only is it impossible for a top four team to win, but the team’s chances of winning are extremely rare. But that will be Liverpool’s main priority this season. Jurgen Klopp’s side have booked their first trip to Wembley and are among the favorites to win the country’s remaining three competitions. Maybe it’s still not enough, but if you dream? Liverpool have a strong squad and there’s no reason to think the second half of the season can’t be incredibly exciting.
