Jurgen Klopp explains why Darwin Nunez was subbed in Liverpool win and names player who did ‘really well’

Klopp had the honor of bringing Andy Robertson back on stage for the first time three months after he suffered a shoulder injury during what Dominic Szoboszlai makes a cameo appearance. After tendon problems. Liverpool scored their fourth goal when substitute Virgil van Dijk headed in Szoboszlai’s corner, with Trent Alexander-Arnold missing the last three games with a knee injury.

Ryan Gravenberch scored an extra-time winner for the Reds after Borja Sainz had reduced Norwich’s deficit. Liverpool’s focus has now shifted to the Premier League. Liverpool are five points clear at the top of the table and play Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday before visiting Arsenal four days later.

And Klopp is happy to get his famous players back. He said: “It is very important to give them a few minutes. So Trent and Dom haven’t been gone that long, but it still feels like they’ve been talking for too long, but Robbo has been gone for a really long time. Every moment they can get now is priceless and today helps them share the intensity again. Darwin, I didn’t leave because he played badly. Of course not It’s just the number of games we’ve played and the number of games we’re going to play, and so is Joey [Gomez].

“Everything is good. We were able to share the playing time and that was the most important thing and we were able to win the game. That’s all that matters now.” We have our next FA Cup game in four weeks. Until then, only the Premier League and the final remain. So let’s do that and make sure we’re ready. It’s great to have players back, but to be honest, we played well without them.

So it’s not about who plays, it’s about how we play. We have to make sure Chelsea are the only team that doesn’t want that. Play against and Arsenal don’t want to play against. “So let’s see what we can do with the players we have now.”Klopp handed James McConnell a full debut against Norwich. The 19-year-old academy graduate played in a number six role and his perfect cross helped set up Jones’ opener.

Klopp was impressed with McConnell’s performance. He added: “James might think he’s a No.8, but if he’s never played a No.6 in his life, he might need a midfielder. But he’s a smart footballer.” He has everything – the aggression and the attitude – to play as a number six and he did very well today. As you can see, he is a great footballer, not just in crosses. Curtis, but another time. It’s very funny.”
