Liverpool given boost as star player spotted in team training ahead of Arsenal fixture

Liverpool are revitalized ahead of their Premier League trip to Arsenal on Sunday (February 4). Striker Darwin Nunes, who picked up a leg injury in the 4-1 home win against Chelsea, was spotted during the team’s training session.

The Uruguayan striker became the first player to hit the bar four times in that game, setting an unwanted Premier League record for missed penalties. Manager Jurgen Klopp told a press conference on Friday that he was unsure if Nunes was fit to play against the Gunners. “I don’t know if Darwin was there because about 20 minutes later someone stepped on his foot and after the game he was in a lot of pain.”

“So nothing broke. X-ray was clear but swollen. We all have to see if he can get his feet back in the boots because we know it will take time. I haven’t seen him this morning, so I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer.”

However, as reported by the ECHO, Nunes was spotted training at the Reds’ AXA Center in the evening, meaning he could feature in the clash with the Gunners at the weekend. Liverpool striker Darwin Nunes made headlines for all the wrong reasons during Chelsea’s win in midweek.

His side got four goals from different players on the night, but the Uruguayan wasn’t one of them. However, former England striker Gary Lineker has advised Nunes to start scoring regularly, noting that he is often in good positions to score. “Yeah, he’s going to miss a lot of chances, but he’s going to be able to miss chances more often than anyone else in the league.

I think he’ll be fine,” Lineker said (via The Rest) of football podcasts). “He might not be the best natural finisher I’ve ever seen, but his movement is exceptional.” It’s incredibly fast and has tons of features.

Scorers say: If you have a lot of chances and your skills are good, you will end up scoring goals. The Liverpool striker has scored 11 goals this season, including seven in the league. Jurgen Klopp’s side are five points clear of second-placed Manchester City (46) with one game left in 22 matches.
