Chris Sutton has predicted how the game between Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium will pan out.
The former Chelsea striker and BBC Sport pundit has said that there will be three goals in the match in North London on Sunday.
So, what has Chris Sutton said about Arsenal against Liverpool? Let’s take a look.
Chris Sutton backs Arsenal to beat Liverpool
Well, Arsenal will take on Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Sunday.
Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton believes that the Gunners will pick up all three points from the encounter.
The BBC Sport pundit has noted how well Liverpool are playing at the moment, but he has still backed Arsenal to win the Premier League game.
While predicting a 2-1 win for Arsenal, Sutton told BBC Sport: “Liverpool look in great shape at the moment. They really impressed me against Chelsea, and they have still got Mohamed Salah to come back from the injury he picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson both came off the bench on Wednesday as they return to full fitness and, without those three players, the Reds have shown they have still got the strength in depth they will need in the run-in. There were loads of other positives, too. I know Darwin Nunez didn’t score, but he still carried a massive threat and did a lot of good things.
“Then you have got Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota looking sharp, and Liverpool’s midfield were excellent as well.
“Arsenal, on the other hand, did not really fire against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday but they still got the job done, which is the important thing. We’ve already seen how close it is between these two sides when they’ve met before this season, and the Gunners missed a load of chances when Liverpool came to the Emirates and won in the FA Cup last month.
“Mikel Arteta’s side still don’t have a centre-forward but, this time, I think they will finish some of the opportunities they create.
“I’m still not entirely sure why I am going with Arsenal to win this game, because Liverpool will score too, but the Gunners definitely need the points more and I think they will just about do enough to get them.”
My View: Arsenal and Liverpool to end 2-2
In my opinion, Arsenal and Liverpool will play out a 2-2 draw with each other in the Premier League game on Sunday. Dimitar Berbatov has predicted the same scoreline.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool are in good form at the moment, and I expect the Gunners and the Reds to play wonderful and attacking football.
Arsenal have won their last two Premier League matches after two successive defeats. Liverpool have picked up 12 points from their last 12 available.
I think that Mikel Arteta’s side are under more pressure to win on Sunday than against Jurgen Klopp’s team, who could have Conor Bradley in the starting lineup.
After all, Arsenal are five points behind leaders Liverpool. The North London club cannot afford to even draw with the Reds if they are to sustain their Premier League title challenge.
