Arsenal face a major clash at the top of the table when they host Premier League leaders Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. The Gunners were dealt a major blow ahead of the game after Gabriel Jesus picked up a knee injury in the midweek win over Nottingham Forest.
Kai Havertz was invited to sit in the front row with Eddie Nketya. Bukayo Saka keeps his place in Arsenal’s attack, while Gabriel Martinelli also supports Havertz in attack. Among the substitutes is Leandro Trossard. Emile Smith Rowe was also on the bench, while Jorginho was asked to feature alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the center of the pitch for Arsenal this afternoon. Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhais and Alexander Zinchenko will once again form Arsenal’s back four in goal, alongside David Raya.
For Liverpool, Cody Gakpo was asked to open the attack alongside Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota as Darwin Nunes was named as one of the substitutes after going off against Chelsea in midweek. Alexis McAllister starts in midfield alongside Ryan Gravenbirch and Curtis Jones.
Thiago Alcantara returned from a long injury layoff today as he was called up to the bench. Trent Alexander-Arnold was called up as the starting right-back alongside Connor Bradley. Joe Gomez will keep his place in front of Andrew Robertson on the left, while Ibrahima Konate will be deployed alongside Virgil van Dijk in the center of Liverpool’s defence.
