‘We paid the right money’ – Deco calls for patience at Barcelona while digging out Liverpool forward

The former Barcelona midfielder singled out one of Liverpool’s stars as he discussed the hefty price tag. Barcelona sporting director Deco has urged Liverpool forward Darwin Nunes to be patient in defending Vitor Roque.

Roque joined the club this week from Atletico Paranaense last summer but only arrived in Catalonia last month. The 18-year-old is the latest in a string of expensive prospects from Brazil, with Barcelona having to pay an initial £25 million to sign him, but Athletic say the deal could rise to 52, 2 million pounds. Barca’s form has been erratic, leaving them eight points clear at the top of La Liga, but Roque scored twice and assisted for back-to-back games after scoring the winner in a thrilling match against Osasuna before a 3- 3. 1 win against Alaves.

He has scored 36 big goals in his career so far, most of them in Brazil. He has a lot of potential and ability, but fans are disappointed because they expect him to fight for big titles and the teenager doesn’t Help. I can do it here and now. So Deco Sports Director urged patience, but seemed to make a strange comment about Nunes.

He said, “You killed that boy before he even started playing.” He spoke to Fabrizio Romano. Liverpool bought Darwin Nunes for €90m, while Newcastle paid €70m for Alexander Isak. The price analysis will have to come a little later. “It wasn’t too expensive and we paid the right amount for the player we needed.”

In the case of Nunes, it’s funny because he was once a target for Barça. First, he was close to agreeing a move to Almeria in 2021, but Benfica offered £25m for the Spanish second-tier player. He scored 48 goals and provided 16 assists in 85 appearances for the Portuguese club before moving to Anfield.

This season has shown his improvement. 11 goals and 11 assists in 35 games shows how much his overall game has improved, surpassing his 19 goals last season.

Although there are times when he needs to be calm, he is a constant and vital threat for Liverpool. He could play a key role in helping Klopp win one of the four trophies he is still in contention for.
