Liverpool will create history at Manchester United after FA Cup tickets decision

Liverpool will have their biggest official backing at Old Trafford against Manchester United of the modern era for the FA Cup quarter-final clash later this month.

The Reds have been given an allocation of 9,211 for the showdown between the bitter North West rivals, which takes place on Sunday week (March 17) with a 3.30pm kick-off.

It’s an increase on the 8,875 tickets Liverpool were handed for the FA Cup third-round meeting at Old Trafford in 2011, which United won 1-0 just a day after Roy Hodgson had been sacked as Reds boss.

When Liverpool last headed down the other end of the East Lancs Road in the competition for a fourth-round tie in January 2021, the game was played behind closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. United won 3-2.
