‘Far too strong’… Tim Sherwood says he can only see one team winning in Man City vs Liverpool

Tim Sherwood has said that Liverpool have no chance of beating Manchester City tomorrow.

After the two sides won their respective midweek European games, they are now preparing to face off against each other at Anfield for their latest Premier League meeting.

Despite both teams currently fighting to win the title, one pundit and former top-flight manager has claimed that only one side have a chance of walking away with all three points on this occasion.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday, Sherwood had this to say about tomorrow’s big game.

He said: “I don’t see Liverpool winning the game tomorrow, I really don’t. I think Man City’s midfield is far too strong for Liverpool’s at the moment.

“They need Mo Salah fit, if Mo Salah’s not fit and doesn’t play 90 minutes in this game or doesn’t start the game I don’t see them winning.

“I see Man City dominating the ball in the midfield areas, the likes of Rodri, [Kevin] De Bruyne and [Phil] Foden at the moment – just incredible, probably the form player in the Premier League at the moment.”

Even though Liverpool are above City in the table and have scored more goals and conceded fewer than City this season, it’s interesting to hear that Sherwood doesn’t think they’ll win, in addition to the fact that they have a very good record against the Manchester club at Anfield.

Interestingly, with Sherwood suggesting City will win the midfield battle on this occasion, they have had more touches in the midfield third of the pitch (10088) than any other side in the league this season.

However, only Bournemouth (193) have made more tackles in the midfield third than Liverpool (191) have in this campaign, which suggests that this may not be as big a problem for them as Sherwood thinks it could be.
