Liverpool duo Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are not happy with FSG and the club’s board.
The Reds are all set to enter a period of transition. Jurgen Klopp has decided to step down at the end of this season, and Liverpool are yet to name his successor.
A number of names have been linked with the Anfield hot seat over recent weeks. Xabi Alonso is the favourite, but it’s still unclear if he will accept the role.
The focus, however, should be on those at Liverpool, and two players are reportedly angry with the club’s board because they feel they’ve been ‘misled’.
Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are furious with Liverpool’s board
Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica before the start of last season.
The Uruguay international cost the Reds a club-record £85 million (Sky Sports). He was a wanted man back then, but Jurgen Klopp managed to convince him to choose Anfield.
Last summer, Liverpool signed Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig for £60 million (BBC). Klopp played a huge part in luring the Hungarian to Merseyside too.
Now, Football Transfers claim that both Nunez and Szoboszlai are furious with Liverpool’s board because the two players feel they were ‘misled’ about Klopp’s future.
The report claims ‘senior Anfield players did have an inkling’ that the German was considering leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. That apparently came from ‘informal discussions held in Singapore during the club’s pre-season tour’.
Nunez and Szoboszlai weren’t made aware of this when they signed, and the report claims they ‘hit the roof’ after Klopp announced he was leaving.
The future of Darwin Nunez and Szoboszlai
If players are furious with their club’s board, the outcome is usually a separation in the next transfer window. However, in the case of Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool fans have nothing to worry about.
The report claims that despite their anger, ‘Nunez and Szoboszlai do not have plans to talk to their agents and review their position with the Reds’. They are not thinking of leaving.
Liverpool can focus on the future now. They have appointed Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, and the two have begun the process of finding Klopp’s successor.
It will be interesting to see who will end up succeeding the German this summer.
