It’s something of a scary thought, but there’s just over a month remaining of the season now. That does of course mean there aren’t many games left in charge of Liverpool for Jürgen Klopp.
The German will of course be leaving Anfield at the end of the season after nearly nine years at the helm. With the Premier League and Europa League still on the line, there is a maximum of 13 games left before he bids farewell.
Of course, given the state of the title race at the moment, there is very little room for sentiment at the moment. Liverpool leads the way with just eight league games remaining, and it can ill afford a slip-up against Manchester United on Sunday with Arsenal and Manchester City ready to pounce.
Off the field, the search continues for Klopp’s successor, with Rúben Amorim the new favorite after Xabi Alonso ruled himself out. Of course, with speculation over who the new manager will be, there are inevitably rumors about which players they could bring with them. Leny Yoro (Lille)
Lille defender Leny Yoro is reportedly ready to leave this summer amid interest from Liverpool. The 18-year-old is enjoying a fine season in France and has attracted interest from a host of top clubs, including Arsenal, PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
According to Telefoot, Liverpool is also keen on the France youth international, who is valued at a hefty $65m (£51m/€60m) by his current club. But his contract is due to expire in 2025 and it appears he has no plans to sign an extension.
That means Lille may have to accept a reduced fee or risk losing the teenager for nothing. According to HITC, Liverpool has been watching the defender in recent weeks as it looks to strengthen its backline this summer.
As well as the clubs mentioned, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea are said to be impressed with Yoro and could make moves during the transfer window.
Liverpool.com says: Yoro is a very talented player but Lille’s asking price is considerably high for a teenager with limited experience. If he is refusing to sign a new deal, the French side will have little choice but to lower its demands and that could allow Liverpool in. A central defender is likely to be on the radar with Joël Matip expected to depart at the end of his contract.
