The Hungarian midfielder completed a £60 million switch to Anfield from RB Leipzig over the summer and quickly settled into life in the Premier League.

 

In his first 20 games for Liverpool, Dominik Szoboszlai registered four goal involvements from the middle of the park.

His early-season form earned him comparisons to club legend Steven Gerrard but a hamstring injury has hampered Szoboszlai’s progress.

The 23-year-old is yet to return to top form following his comeback in early March. But when you consider that Szoboszlai only arrived in England last summer, he’s settled in brilliantly in Merseyside

Szoboszlai names his closest friend at Liverpool

In an interview with Stadium Astro, the midfielder was asked about his relationship with Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The reporter said: “Are you closest with Trent compared to the rest?”

“Yeah, probably,” Szoboszlai admitted. “I’m close with everyone but with Trent we are the same age, outside of football we do almost the same things, we hang out quite a bit and also on the pitch we understand each other well.”

It’s hardly a surprise to hear that Szoboszlai has struck up a strong friendship with Alexander-Arnold.

 

The 25-year-old is a hugely popular figure at Liverpool and back in October, reports claimed that the duo had quickly become close friends following Szoboszlai’s switch to Anfield.

Szoboszlai also made a quick impression on the pitch, which led to Alexander-Arnold labelling him a ‘special’ talent.

“I think he’s just a natural-born football player. I think you just get a feeling with someone who just knows and understands the game,” the Liverpool star said of Szoboszlai.

“They don’t overcomplicate it. There’s not a certain system or a certain way of playing that brings the best out of them. They can do everything, and it’s just natural. That’s the kind of vibe you get with him.”

 

“He’s a talent that’s very special. He’s an exceptional player and a great lad as well, so he’s someone who is very exciting for the club, very exciting for himself as well.”He is someone we’re going to need to perform and he understands that and demands that from himself, so he’s a great addition to the squad.” as quoted by Sportskeeda.
