Liverpool have made some of the best signings in Premier League history in recent years. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson were all incredible signings for the Reds,
And their transfer business throughout the Jurgen Klopp era has to be commended.
However, perhaps the best signing of the bunch was a player who was signed for just £8m.
Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Gary Lineker commended Liverpool’s signing of Andy Robertson all those years ago.
Also the Scot signed from Hull for just £8m, and he made the top 10 list of greatest Premier League players to ever be relegated.
ROBERTSON HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE LIVERPOOL
Lineker was full of praise for Robertson naming him as one of the great full-backs and great signings of recent times.
“Andy Robertson, one of the great full-backs, a title winner, a Champions League winner, a brilliant player, what a signing he has been.
Do you remember sitting in the Match of the Day office when Hull were playing
And Ian Wright says ‘you know who I really like? Andy Robertson, he’s to be really special.’ And he had an absolute nightmare didn’t he?” Lineker said.
Andy Robertson was a bargain that you just rarely see these days.
Relegated players even move for a premium now James Maddison and Harvey Barnes moved for massive money this summer just gone, as did Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse.
Also Robertson is a player who underrated and undervalued and Liverpool took advantage of that in the best possible way, landing a player who would arguably become the world’s best left-back at one point.
Robertson may well be one of the best signings in Premier League history when all said and done.
Also With just under a week to recover and recuperate, the Lilywhites take on Fulham away from home next weekend,
As the race for Champions League qualification continues to go on, with Manchester United continuing to breathe down their necks.
