Referee who left Jurgen Klopp furious confirmed for Fulham vs Liverpool

The referee has been confirmed for Liverpool’s clash against Fulham in the Premier League this weekend.

Sunday will see the Reds return to top-flight action desperately looking to get back to winning ways. It will be Liverpool’s first Premier League fixture since the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Jurgen Klopp and Co. will still have belief that they can win the league title in the final weeks of the season. However, a win against Fulham will likely be needed for Liverpool to keep up with Manchester City and Arsenal in the title race.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that Craig Pawson will be the referee for Sunday’s clash between Liverpool and Fulham. Pawson will be assisted by Marc Perry and Wade Smith at Craven Cottage, while Tony Harrington will be on VAR duty at Stockley Park.

This will be the third Liverpool fixture that Pawson will have refereed this season. The previous two ended in convincing wins for the Reds, including the 2-0 win over Everton in the Premier League in October and the 3-0 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup at the end of February.

However, one previous Liverpool match that had Pawson in charge of the whistle left Klopp furious. The game was in November 2021 and saw the Reds lose 3-2 away to West Ham.

Klopp was not happy after West Ham scored a goal from a corner, after saying that a foul should have been given on Alisson Becker and that the goal should have been disallowed. The Liverpool boss was furious with the decision from Pawson and was critical of the referee in his post-match remarks.
