Liverpool news: Reds in £40m transfer race as clause revealed and Virgil van Dijk sends message

It’s matchday once again and Liverpool prepare for Fulham looking to get back on track in the Premier League.

Victory will see the Reds take advantage of Manchester City’s pause for FA Cup activity and go some way to regaining the momentum they lost in defeat to Crystal Palace. Jurgen Klopp’s side have not earned three points in the Premier League since beating Sheffield United 3-1 at the beginning of the month.

The Reds required goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the dying minutes to ensure a 4-3 victory at Anfield earlier in the season against the Cottagers. Marcos Silva’s team beat West Ham last time out and will not be a pushover at home.

With only the Premier League title to play for, Liverpool will be fully committed to trying to make Klopp’s final weeks a success. With that said, Mirror Football looks at the latest Liverpool news.

Virgil van Dijk message
Virgil van Dijk believes there are a number of things that have seen Liverpool falter in recent weeks but is confident the Reds can turn things around to launch a title assault. The Dutchman noted ‘anything is still possible’ before explaining his side need to repeat what they’ve already done this season.

“It’s not one factor it’s multiple,” he said. “We’re all human beings, we all want to do well, keep clean sheets and score goals. But we are where we are and the situation is what it is. There are six games, we have to give it everything and we will give it everything.

“The two results before Thursday were disappointing, but we don’t forget that we want to do well. When games don’t go well and we’re on the other side – obviously that hasn’t happened many times this season – we all have to switch back on.

“There were a lot of good things against Atalanta on Thursday, but not good enough. We have to focus on ourselves like we always have been doing and that never changes.”
