Liverpool’s agreement on a fee for Arne Slot sees the Feyenoord boss join an elite list of managers.
The Premier League side agreed on a compensation package with the Eredivisie outfit for the Dutchman on Friday (April 26), which will see the 45-year-old succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield next season.
Slot has become the most expensive Dutch manager ever with Liverpool paying Feyenoord £7.7 million, with an additional £1.7 million in add-ons, for his services, according to the Times.
The hefty fee agreed with Feyenoord will see Slot make an entry on a list of the world’s most expensive managers – which Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers both make two appearances on.
The deal for Slot, which could reach up to £9.4m, would see him overtake the £8.8m Leicester paid Celtic to make Rodgers their boss in 2019.
The 45-year-old will become the most expensive Dutch manager
after a successful first three years at the King Power, Rodgers suffered a shock relegation with the 2016 Premier League winners as he departed that summer before re-joining the Scottish side.
The third most expensive manager ever was due to Chelsea forking out £13.3m to Porto for Andre Villas-Boas who lasted less than a season at Stamford Bridge after butting heads with John Terry.
