Declan Rice discusses Liverpool ‘chaos’ as Mohamed Salah explanation given

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has admitted there is a sense of “chaos” when taking part in matches against Liverpool.

The Reds have gone head-to-head with the Gunners a total of three times this term, winning once, drawing and losing. Jurgen Klopp’s side got the better of Arsenal in the FA Cup third-round tie at Emirates Stadium in January, were held at home and suffered defeat in the capital in the Premier League.

Both sides have been involved in a title battle with Manchester City over the last few months, though this is now a challenge Arsenal will be carrying on with solo after Liverpool’s recent results all but ended their hopes of claiming top spot. Reflecting on some of key matches that have brought Mikel Arteta’s men to this position, Rice identified the 1-1 draw between the teams at Anfield in December as one of his favourite matches he has played in since signing for the London club.

Opening up on how he felt during this winter fixture, the England international said: “The way they play, the football they play, it’s like a chaos game that they create. Balls in behind from Trent Alexander-Arnold constantly, picking up the second balls, re-delivering, second phase, third phase, fourth phase — they’re just relentless at it. And at Anfield, especially the Kop end, goals get sucked in. But that game I absolutely loved.”
