With Arne Slot’s reign now underway at Anfield, all eyes will be on how the Reds prepare for the new era. It won’t be long until the new head coach is meeting his new squad in pre-season, and he will no doubt hope to have some new faces to add to the mix.

Sporting director Richard Hughes will be in charge of making sure the Dutchman has some new signings to run the rule over this summer. One of those tipped to make the move to Anfield is already a familiar face to Slot.

Yankuba Minteh is being tipped to follow his former Feyenoord boss to Merseyside this summer, having impressed while on loan in Rotterdam. Liverpool would have to pry him away from Newcastle, although that might not be as big an issue as you might think.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle may have to cash in on the winger amid Financial Fair Play concerns, which could leave the door open for Minteh to be reunited with Slot.

Should the 19-year-old arrive at Anfield this summer, he could spark a major change in the Liverpool side. Although he may be utilized as a backup to Mohamed Salah initially, Minteh could also enable Slot to use the Egyptian in a more central role.

That could leave the rest of the forwards vying for a place on the left, and with speculation continuing over Luis Diaz’s future, Cody Gakpo may well get the nod, having been favored over Darwin Nunez at the back end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Recent rumors have suggested there could be another new addition in midfield. Although the reports on Atalanta’s Ederson have varied, the Brazilian would bolster Liverpool’s options in the number six role, and that might just be what the Reds need.

Joining him in the engine room will of course be Alexis Mac Allister, who was comfortably the best signing of last summer. Fresh from Euro 2024 – as long as injury doesn’t rule him out of the tournament – Dominik Szoboszlai will hopefully be raring to go again, although Harvey Elliott won’t give up his spot without a fight.

Defense is perhaps the area that is most in need of some new blood. With Joel Matip moving on, a new center-back is the order of the day, and Leny Yoro is one of the most exciting options to have been linked with Liverpool (via Foot Mercato).

At just 18, he has already become a star at Lille, making 44 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, and should Liverpool manage to win the race for his signature, he could provide competition to start alongside Virgil van Dijk, as well as present an outstanding option for the future.

Liverpool’s potential line-up next season: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Yoro, Van Dijk, Robertson; Ederson, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Minteh, Salah, Gakpo.
