They have the ability to upset the apple cart” – Alan Shearer predicts result of Liverpool vs Brighton and Hove Albion.

Alan Shearer has backed Liverpool to beat Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday (November 2) in the Premier League. He believes the Reds are in good form and will easily be able to get past the Seagulls.

In his weekly column for Metro, Shearer claimed that Brighton & Hove Albion can upset the big teams but Liverpool are too strong. He added that the match being played at Anfield will also play a key role.

“They [Brighton] have the ability to upset the apple cart but I don’t think they will this weekend because the game is at Anfield and Liverpool beat them in the Carabao Cup earlier this week. It will be a stronger Liverpool team so I think with the season they’re having and the form they’re in, they’ll win this one,” Shearer wrote.

The Reds are second in the league table and have slipped from the top for the first time this season. They drew 2-2 with Arsenal last week (October 27) but beat Brighton 3-2 in the Carabao Cup on October 30

Chris Sutton was making his predictions for the week in his BBC column when he backed the Reds to beat Brighton this weekend. He remarked that the Reds are going to pick up a 2-0 win over the Seagulls, writing:

“I am at Anfield with Ian Dennis on Saturday to cover this game for BBC Radio 5 Live, and I am looking forward to it. It has not been a great week for Brighton, who threw victory away against Wolves last weekend, conceding a 93rd minute equaliser, then lost at home to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in midweek.”

Going to Anfield will be even harder for them. Liverpool dropped points against Arsenal in their last league game, but I can’t see that happening here – Brighton will cause them problems but they can’t afford to slip up, and they won’t,” he added.

The Piano TV series winner Brad Kella was with Sutton this week and he also backed the Reds to collect all three points. He tipped Arne Slot’s side to win 3-0, saying (via BBC):

“It does seem to lift the team’s performance when we are at home – there’s a reason we are renowned for doing that. When I go to home games, it sometimes feels like a whole different team is playing compared to what they are like away. That’s the Anfield effect, and even the stadium itself is like a beacon in our city.”

Liverpool can jump back to the top of the table with a win. They will remain second regardless of other results if they drop points today.
