Liverpool number 66 Trent Alexander-Arnold says his side can win the Premier League this season — and he was also jokingly asked by Reds legend Jamie Carragher about the “elephant in the room” he wasn’t meant to talk about.
Speaking at the Football For Change charity gala last weekend, Carragher joked with Alexander-Arnold amid his current contract situation. “We’ve only got Trent for a short time because he’s got a huge Champions League game in midweek against Bayer Leverkusen and then the following week against Aston Villa,” the Liverpool legend said during a Q&A.
But Trent, everyone in this room is waiting for me to ask you a big question… I know they told me I couldn’t ask it before we came on but it’s the elephant in the room, so I have to ask you… who do you prefer, me or Gary Neville?”
It has to be you!” Alexander-Arnold replied with the audience laughing. Asked if Liverpool could win the Premier League this season, the Reds’ vice-captain added: “I definitely reckon it’s possible.”
It’s just about consistency, to be honest,” he said. “That is the most important thing; to just keep winning. We focus on ourselves, as hard it is, we can’t get into watching other teams and their results. But we’re in a good position and if we can keep our consistency and keep winning games then, you know, we’ll be in a good position in a few months
