Erling Haaland, one of football’s most prolific strikers, has reportedly set a key condition for extending his Manchester City contract, amid growing interest from FC Barcelona.
Since his £51m transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has established himself as a superstar, boasting an incredible 105 goals in 114 appearances for the Premier League champions. This season alone, he has netted 15 goals in 16 games.
Currently contracted with City until 2027, reports indicate that the club is eager to secure a lucrative contract extension. However, the 23-year-old Norwegian has reportedly requested a £150m release clause as part of any renewal, ensuring flexibility in future transfers.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, on the hunt for Robert Lewandowski’s successor, has made Haaland their “dream signing.” While a £100m release clause is rumored to be included in his proposed new deal, Spanish outlets suggest Haaland’s condition could complicate negotiations.
As both Manchester City and Barcelona strategize for the future, Haaland’s next move could set a major precedent in the transfer market.
