Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung says Liverpool have not been in contact with the Bundesliga side over Omar Marmoush.
The Reds are known to be pursuing the Egypt international, but when asked if Frankfurt had received an enquiry from the Merseysiders, Hardung replied:
“No, we have not had any contact with Liverpool about Marmoush, no negotiations or any contact. I know the people there, but there is nothing, there is no contact with any club regarding the player.”
‘Pressure’ as Liverpool’s title challenge advantage highlighted
Pressed on whether Marmoush could be sold in the January transfer window, Hardung said Frankfurt wanted to keep their striker:
“We don’t want to do without him, we don’t want to sell, certainly not in January. There’s no room for speculation in the transfer market, but there’s no reason to sell him in the winter.”
Liverpool approach could only happen in the summer
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed last month that Marmoush’s agents had been contacted by the Reds. The journalist went so far as to say that the player “dreams” of moving to the Premier League and would “immediately agree to join Liverpool” if an offer was made. However, it seems any transfer is more likely to happen at the end of the season. Arne Slott’s side may wait to see how negotiations with Mo Salah over a new contract go before deciding to make a bid.
Marmoush has other suitors
The 25-year-old has had an excellent start to the season, scoring 14 goals and providing 10 assists in his first 17 games. That form is also said to have attracted interest from other clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle.
Mamroush is also unlikely to be available on the cheap, with Frankfurt looking for a fee of between €50m and €60m.
