Mo Salah to PSG? New transfer claims after dropping Liverpool contract bombshell

Mohamed Salah is approaching the final six months of his contract at Liverpool and French champions Paris Saint-Germain are being tipped to sign him on a free transfer.

Paris Saint-Germain have set their sights on Mo Salah after the Liverpool star revealed that he’s yet to be offered a new contract.

Salah, 32, only has seven months left on his current deal and is ‘disappointed’ by the Reds’ refusal to make him an offer at this stage. The Egyptian forward is one of three key players who could leave Liverpool for free when their contracts expire in June 2025, as team-mates Trent Alexander-Arnold and captain Virgil van Dijk are in the same predicament as Salah.

PSG are long-time admirers of the 32-year-old, who revealed a week ago: “We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club [Liverpool]. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this.”

Now it’s been claimed by French outlet L’Equipe that there’s a ‘good chance’ Salah will join PSG next summer. The forward is claimed to be ‘actively engaging’ in discussions over a move to Paris and reportedly already has a good relationship with president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

Salah is allowed to a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club from January 1, so PSG might not have to wait long until they can get their hands on the former Chelsea prospect. The Ligue 1 champions have, though, denied direct talks with Salah and have moved away from big-name signings since the departures of Lionel Messi, Neymar and most recently Kylian Mbappe.

PSG were linked with Salah before he signed a three-year contract extension in 2022 but now he’s closer than ever to leaving. There’s a debate over whether handing him another no-doubt lucrative long-term contract is the right decision given his age.
