The No. 12-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team was ranked No. 10 in the first NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) ranking of the season, per a release from the organization Monday.
NET is a tool used to evaluate teams heading into the NCAA Tournament using the strength of a team’s schedule, net efficiency on offense and defense and quality of wins and losses.
WVU landed at No. 10 in the first NET ranking, it is the second-highest-rated Big 12 team behind No. 4-ranked Texas Christian University.
The Mountaineers are 8-1 on the season after suffering their first loss in the Gulf Coast Showcase Championship game to the No. 5-ranked University of Texas 78-73 Sunday. Texas is the second-highest-rated team in NET, only behind the University of South Carolina.
No. 12 WVU Women’s Basketball will return to action against East Tennessee State University at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the WVU Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and can be heard on U92 The Moose.
