Liverpool star responds to angry blast from Arne Slot: ‘We are not machines’

Liverpool star Alisson Becker has hit back at manager Arne Slot’s scathing criticism, insisting that players are “not machines” and can’t perform at their best every time.

Slot had expressed his disappointment with Liverpool’s display against Girona in the Champions League, despite the team’s 1-0 win. The manager was unhappy with the team’s intensity and pressing, which led to Alisson making several crucial saves to secure the victory.

The Brazilian goalkeeper also highlighted the importance of staying focused and preparing for the next match, rather than dwelling on past performances. He acknowledged that the team needs to improve, but emphasized that they can’t be expected to perform at their best every time.

“We’re not machines,” Alisson said. “We’re going to have not-so-good days, but the good thing in football is you have another chance in three days. We just have to prepare ourselves, don’t be upset and be happy for the points, but also have the acknowledgement that you have to improve” ¹.

Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has been struggling for form since Arne Slot’s arrival at the club. The Uruguayan attacker has been criticized for his lack of intensity and pressing, and it remains to be seen whether he will start against Fulham on Saturday ¹.
